The majority of Knights, Ladies and guests flew direct from Edinburgh to Copenhagen where the adventure kicked off in typical Cape fashion. What’s the least likely thing to find in the middle of a motorway? Yes, a jet ski: the journey to the centrally located hotels was delayed as the result of an accident involving a trailer, a jet ski and at least one other car. Knights settled in to the Danmark and Urban House hotels before heading out for the finest kebabs and curries Copenhagen had to offer. This included suspicions of casing for synagogue retribution: “am only takin’ photaes eh ma pals, pal”. Free coffee all-round the following morning greeted Knights, Ladies and guests before the full crew met at the steps of the Copenhagen Radhaus where a wedding was in full swing. Guide Peter, Karsten, Hanna, Helene, Dez, Per, Karla, Emillie, Niklaus, Anne, Nick, Helena, Steve, Colin, Dave, Carol, Colin and Rob all exchanged hearty welcomes before wandering off past the National Museum of Denmark and on to the Christiansborg Palace where plans to go up the tower were scuppered a combination of the large queue, tight security and small lift. Never mind. Peter was already on The Cape wavelength and disappeared only to return with beer for all. The beers were enjoyed by the fountain in the Royal Library Garden. Everyone boarded the harbour bus near the Black Diamond. This took us on a great trip to Teglholmen; then a return journey to The Little Mermaid with many great sights and stops on the way. After disembarking to enjoy a burger at the ironic English fete by the church next to the Gefion Fountain, it was time for a walk around the Kastellet. We continued on around the area of Amalienborg which included incurring the wrath of the Royal Life Guard by sitting on the walls of one of the palaces at Amalienborg: naughty Cape: stay 1.5 metres away or be shot! We made a sharp exit from the machine gun wielding guard past Frederik's Church where Niklaus enjoyed a Nutella crepe. How long is it since we had a beer? Too long. Next stop: the Black Swan Bar before a long walk back to the hotel to freshen up before a slap-up meal at Klubben. Did anyone order pork crackling? A great night was had by all. Thanks for organising it Helene. The following day, Knights did their own thing which included trips to Tolkien's Universe, exploration of Christianshavn, including a visit to Church of Our Saviour and some dead high happy hippy culture at Christiania. Is it wine hour already? Quick, back to the hotel to abuse the free glass of wine from 17.00-18.00. Really, it’s never seen the level of abuse the convivial Cape Society gave it: sorry guv. Knights again did their own evening things which included traditional Danish food and drink and trips to Tivoli Gardens: rock fingers! Come Monday, some of us chilled out at the botanical gardens before a fond farewell to the first MMM of the Edinburgh Cape Society was closed in traditionally convivial fashion with some mojitos and beer at the Mambo Bar. Less said about jizlizard-man Rob the better (V). Many thanks to Martin for the germ of an idea and all Knights and guests who made it what it was: a super duper Modern Mega Manor!
