Kirsty, Martin, Dez, Colin, Mark, Gordon and Steve all arrived at The Ballroom
in Morningside ready for battle. After a settling-the-nerves drink, the green baize was set
alight as the first round of pool fired off. It was a hotly contested affair which saw two of the
favourites, Dez and Gogs, top-spin, chalk and screw through the qualifying rounds to
fight it out in the final: pool queues for light sabres-style. Like many of the frames before it, the
player with fewer unforced errors came out on top and Gordon was crowned champion.
The Coghill Queue was unavailable for presentation but will be around next year for
the previous year's winner to play with. Knights and guests moved across the hall without knowing
Cape history was about to be made. Hustler Kirsty lulled all in to a false sense of security with
her, "I can't throw them properly", line before dart-smashing her way in to the final and showing no mercy as she
stabbed Dez with an oche-tastic double sixteen to scoop the coveted Prestonpans Arras.
It was another hotly contested evening. Thanks to everyone who competed and to our winners.
