Report
One lady and five knights travelled by train to Leeds, some starting out from Stirling, others from Edinburgh. Arriving in Leeds on Tuesday afternoon, the first exercise was to check-in to pre-booked accommodation and find the agreed meeting place: The North Bar. This was successfully negotiated with sojourns to a Spoons by some and the Horse and Trumpet by others. A couple of drinks and a short walk later, the group reached Caribbean restaurant, Turtle Bay (get the connection?) which, a little disappointingly, turned out to be more of a Caribbean Nandos than a genuine Caribbean cuisine experience. Matters were compounded when knights and lady were informed there was no draught or bottled beer! A couple of attendees bathed their wounds with cocktails. Never mind, keeping spirits up, plenty ale, beer and drinks were enjoyed in Whitelock's before bed: big tour day tomorrow.

Knights met in Millennium Square and took in many sights, sounds and short stories of Leeds over the day. We experienced Martin's Wing, The Templar Hotel, Lady's Lane, birthplace of M&S: Kirkgate Market (every good town has one), the corner of Concordia and Sovereign Streets (site of the old Concordia Mill), The Dark Arches, Leeds and Liverpool Canal, Temple Works (with its connection to Cape Club member Sir Owlet) and (nod to Worthy Grand Sovereign) Dave's Pies; all with stop-offs at various excellent beer supply shops.

After such an exhausting schedule, some Knights headed back to their hotel for a rest and to meet up with Phil who spent the day in search of his grandfather's grave. The same evening, everyone met up again at Whitelock's for tea and a few more libations: excellent fare although the lemon sole was only luke warm.

Thursday was earmarked for a trip to the excellent Royal Armouries Museum and a short trip by water taxi from Leeds Dock to the canal by the train station. After a fairly hectic schedule since arriving, everyone took a welcome bit of time out at The Hop where relaxation and a few drinks were the order of the day.

Before meeting up at Indian restaurant, Nawaab, for tea, Steve and Helena walked part of the canal to Kirkstall, the home of Kirkstall Abbey and Brewery. Some Kirkstall brewed beer was enjoyed in the Old Bridge Inn with its Edinburgh United Breweries and McEwan's Pale Ale mirrors. Tea at Nawaab was very tasty with plenty of noise: the cricket fans were in. A few drinks were enjoyed in the Scarborough Hotel and the Ship before retiring.

Next day it was time to head home but not before Helena, Steve and Rob (on a later train than others) had a walk around some of Leeds' many shopping arcades and enjoyed a bit of brunch in Wapentake.
