Note, a few Knights are away on the last Wednesday of the month, hence the unusual date.

Martin, Steve, Colin and Phil made another visit to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) in Leith to
cast an eye over the results of recent refurbishment of the main room. Opinions were generally positive,
especially when focussed on the large new bar occupying the back wall (with odd 'dull' inscription) and the painting
disguising some of the more colourful names the SMWS gives to its whiskies.
Popular opinion was the inscription should've been guilded to make it easier to read.
Steve had been thinking about the 'most St Andrew's Day-like' November Manor the society
has had over the years and decided the November 2011 trip to see St Andrew's relics
was the one. Stumbling on the name of the Very Reverend Monsignor Michael Regan in the Manor report
dug up dirt forming some interesting St Andrew's Day chat. Perhaps we should focus on
the belief that St Andrew's birth as patron saint of Scotland was the result of the Declaration
of Arbroath which was recently on display at the National Museum of Scotland where
you can also view Cape Club 'relics'. On the whisky front, a nice 'Just Right for a Balmy Night' (cask number 95.89)
was probably toast of the afternoon.
Having soaked in all the oldly-worldly delights the Vaults has to offer,
the customary post-SMWS visit to the Malt and Hops was undertaken before
Martin and Steve led a final charge to Wilkies.
