- Port of Leith Distillery
- Perhaps it's time to rebrand the Cape Society as some derivative of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as, for the second Manor in a row, the society goes all out uisge beatha. For the first time since who knows when (well, last September's Fergusson Pilgrimage), this month's Manor falls on the traditional last Wednesday of the month. We plan to take a trip to the Port of Leith Distillery courtesy of Martin and Alex. There may even be a discount or two on offer. More details to follow.
-
The visit begins at 18.30
but no doubt a drink or two will be enjoyed in the Malt & Hops or similar howff beforehand. The boat may literally be pushed out with pre-tour drinks in the bar on the Fingal. The cat-herder will be on holiday so please meet at the Port of Leith Distillery at 18:30.Please ensure organisers Martin and Alex are aware of your intention to attend.

Eleven Knights and ladies enjoyed the hospitality of the Port of Leith Distillery and
its trusting charging system. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny evening; the air was clear and
the views from the bar at the top of the building were excellent.
Alex and Mark were the only two who indulged in an actual whisky.
Apparently, the dubiously named, "table whisky", was much to Alex's liking.
The remainder of the party stuck with the reasonable selection of beer and wine (much of it from Leith's Pilot Brewery),
despite there being a very good selection of whiskies on offer, including a couple from
the much discussed (between Steve and Dave) Lindores Abbey Distillery.
This being a purely convivial Manor, after a few drinks, good chat and a wander around the bar admiring views,
it was revealed the distillery bar closes at the early hour of 21.30. A short discussion later and half the party headed off to bed
while the other half landed at Teuchters where Phil and Martin enjoyed some Scapa and Knights marvelled at
how the cost-of-living crisis seems to have passed many Leith pubs by: Teuchters Landing was very busy this Wednesday night.

Thanks to Martin for booking the table at the distillery, everyone who came to 'the party', and the Cape for offering to plug any gaps in the final, individual, make-it-up-as-you-go-along bill. (Fortunately, there were no gaps.)
