- The annual Cape Society pitch 'n' putt competition tees-off on Bruntsfield Links. Bring dreams of the Wee Laddie Trophy, clubs; and some balls. Car-owners of Bruntsfield beware: park elsewhere. We'll raise a glass to the memory of North Leith who's death left an indelible mark on this event eight years ago.
- Meet in Bennets between 19.30 and 20.00. We'll head from the 19th hole out on to the course at 20.00.

Colin's putting kept him ahead of the cut for much of the evening's game but the scores show no one was on fire or
close to some of the Cape course records this competition has witnessed: the low 30s; possibly even high 20s.
The Links was thankfully quiet and at the end of nine holes, Colin and Rob were tied on 37. A couple of tie-breaker
holes later (holes 1 & 2 were replayed), Rob walked off with the Wee Laddie trophy (possibly on the back of some lax but self-beneficial arithmetic).
The three swingers then retired to the 19th hole (Bennets) where Martin and Phil
were trying to keep seats free in a crowded pub: no cost-of-living-crisis in
Bennets on a Wednesday evening.

Kudos to Robin who travelled from Galashiels to whack a ball and raise a Lagavulin 16 year-old fuelled toast to the memory of North Leith who was the subject of much of the evening's conviviality. Thanks to everyone who came along to imbibe, seek the elusive hole-in-one, pick green gunk from their nose (think about it) or all three.
