- Five Knights (Martin, Colin, Neil, Derran, Steve) and one guest (Andy) met at the National Library of Scotland just prior to 6 p.m. when a fairly recently appointed map curator, Paula Williams, started a fascinating talk on various aspects of Scott's last expedition. Her main source of material was published extracts from a few of the diaries kept by members of the Terra Nova Expedition, including Cherry, Evans and Bowers. Some fascinating stories came to light, including the killing of seals for food and the finding of undigested fish in their bellies: fish which were eaten by members of Campbell's Northern Party while fighting for survival against the winter months of 1912 in their snow cave. Following the talk, Martin, Colin, Derran, Steve and Andy headed for the Winter Beer Festival in the Bow Bar in Victoria Street. Pints of Cannonball, organic Black Isle and others were sampled. Andy headed home and the remaining four Knights visited a former Cape Hall: The Castle Arms. It was suggested the Ensign Ewart would be a good next stop-off point but it was closed so the evening dubbed, "think before you drink", closed with last orders in the Jolly Judge.
