Dunbar Mini Modern Manor
The next Manor will be hosted by Dave in Dunbar and will include a look around the town centre and visit to Thurston Manor for a BBQ.
Meet at John Muir's Birthplace (126 High Street, EH42 1JJ) at around 12:30pm. The 'Visit' and 'Contact us' sections on the left of this web page give details of the location of the meeting place and how to reach it. Anyone planning to drive, please advertise any free car spaces and please speak with your fellow Knights if you fancy staying over in Dunbar on the Saturday night. Guests welcome. Manor notes (PDF).

Most Knights and guests (Dave, Carol, Derry, Anne, Martin and Colin) arrived at the scheduled time and spent an hour looking around John Muir's Birthplace and wandering the historic streets of Dunbar, particularly the harbour area where Knights and guests sojourned at the Volunteer Arms for convivial libation. Robert, Jackie and Steve arrived around 1:30pm and took the tour and route before Steve and Robert went off to the harbour while Jackie enjoyed the sunshine (ahem). At this point Dave, Carol, Derry and Anne headed for Thurston Manor to fire up the BBQ. The remaining Knights and guests all bumped in to each other as well as recent arrivals Helene, Derran and Karla, by the harbour before they too headed for Thurston Manor. Dave and Carol provided a fantastic array of food and drink as everyone relaxed in the sunshine outside their wonderful lodge, full of belly and with drink in hand. (The lamb kebabs and chicken deserve special mention.) Worthy Sovereign gave a vote of thanks on behalf of The Cape Society to Dave and Carol for their great hospitality and a toast was offered in their honour. Derran, Robert, Nick and Steve made an attempt at reaching 'the glen' but had their new, expensive and trendy footwear 'beaten back' by the muddy conditions. Nick was quite happy to have his shoes murdered by the mud. As time was passing, Anne, Derry, Jackie, Robert, Derran, Helene, Nick and Karla all said their goodbyes around 8pm and left Colin, Martin, Dave and Carol with the prospect of an evening's bingo and grab-a-granny cabaret at the leisure park's event hall. The less reported on that the better we reckon. This was a great Manor. Thanks everyone.
