Three Knights, Rob, Derran and Steve whacked off (or teed off for formal golfers) at 8 p.m. on Bruntsfield Links and proceeded to demolish each hole in three strokes or fewer (with the odd four, five and one six thrown in for good measure). There were only a couple of shouts of "FOUR" until Neil arrived as Knights prepared to tackle hole seven. Score keeping on the part of Knights who shall remain nameless was abysmal and the competition was effectively declared, "the game's a bogie" before the eighth hole was reached. Steve birdied the last with a two but this was as close to declaration of a winner as the evening came. We reckon Neil managed a score comparable to other Knights (who played nine holes) in the three he played. :) In an unusual turn of events, and, in part, to give Neil a decent game, Knights carried on playing the 36 hole course as far as the 17th (or thereabouts: as usual, the 'parkie' had taken all the pins in by then so it was only the memories of Derran and Rob, who played the course a lot when they lived in Tollcross, we had to rely on: little comfort). All Knights retired to the Auld Toll around 9:30 p.m. and cried in to their beer when they discovered it would be closing on 28th July; to open again after ten weeks as a cocktail bar. "Farewell Auld Toll." All-in-all a lower than average turnout for this annual Manor but the weather and general comradery of the Knights present made it an enjoyable one.
