Grassmarket / White Hart Inn
Knights and Guests are invited to come and disregard sobriety at one of Auld Reekie's so called oldest hostelries in the unique setting where hangings and sheep selling were once common practice. Also, in keeping with Cape-Connections this is where regulars Burke and Hare drank - think Sir Lluyd!
Meet at The White Hart Inn, 34 Grassmarket between 7.30 and 8.00 p.m. We (may) wander out at 8. Guests welcome.

Dez, Rob and Steve flew the Manor flag in the Grassmarket, meeting up in the White Hart Inn before heading out in to a Christmas Wonderland (it's still November people). Dez gave an account of some of the history of this now student-haven, including reference to the WWI Zeppelin bombing. 'Student haven' was reinforced by a crew of at least 30 who pilled out of Buddy Milligan's playing pub golf. A haunting at The Last Drop pub and it was back out in to the street to hear stories of cattle, sheep, hangings, Captain Porteous, Covenanters, Maggie Dickson, Little Italy, Star Wars and the Cape Club's own Deacon Brodie. Maggie Dickson's name must've struck a chord as it was her namesake hostelry which was the next scooping venue, where we met Joseph the oil worker fae Aberdeen. After an action-packed evening, it was time for Steve and Rob to head for the train... via Wash bar at the top of the Mound.
