Pitch 'n' Putt
The traditional pitch 'n' putt Manor at Bruntsfield Links.

Assemble or mill-around in outside the Golf Tavern between 19.30 and 20.00. Tee-off at 20.00.

Newsflash: the holes of the Bruntsfield Links Short Hole Golf Course have been filled in. An enquiry is outstanding with the parks department. This Manor may change to a tour of Leith Links. Contact the Society for further information.

Having been snookered by someone filling in the holes of the Bruntsfield Links Short Hole Golf Course, Knights took aim down an alternative fairway and headed for the home of golf: Leith Links. The recently unveiled statue of John Rattray was to be the main focus. It was a good turnout in good weather. Anne, Martin, Gav, Mark, Rob, Dez, Phil, Colin and Steve all enjoyed Colin's ice-cream hospitality at the outset before Martin recounted some of the history of Leith Links, including reference to the oft debated origins and uses of the braes of Giant and Lady Fyfe. The company walked to the statue of John Rattray where Martin's conducting rod was politely hijacked by author of the Leith Links Community Council web site, Jim Scanlon. Jim was closely involved with the committee responsible for erecting the £100 000 statue. A good deal of thanks to him for his unique insight in to the statue and all things associated with it. Unfortunately, due to the need of a few finishing touches, including slabs in front of the gravestone-style information boards, there was a fence around the site and close inspection of the statue was only there for those with the foresight to arrive with wire-cutters. Knights and guest retired to a park bench to do an unsurprisingly good job of looking like a bag of jakies before retiring to Colin's house to do another unsurprisingly good job of looking like a bag of jakies: should've left that whisky at home. But, hey-ho, it made for a cheaper evening than one ending in a pub.

Enquiries on when the holes at Bruntsfield would be 'unfilled' fell on deaf ears as nothing conclusive was ever heard from Edinburgh Council's parks department: please improve your behaviour.
