- Martin and Mary kindly open their door to allow haggis and Rabbie in. Bring a wee party-piece with you: Burns-related preferred but, ultimately, this is a Cape Manor so any entertainment will do.

A very similar event (well it is a Burns supper) to the 2023 mash-up ensued...
Martin, Mary, Helena, Anne, Rob, Phil, Colin and Helen gathered on the outskirts of Leith at Martin and Mary's
for another celebration
of Rabbie Burns' birthday with all things Scottish, including whisky (by the bottle),
tartan and a finely cooked and served meal of
Findlay's of Musselburgh haggis, neeps 'n' tatties. The Scottish-based revellers were joined by Derran,
Helena and Helena's cousin, Janna,
with a great quote-and-dance by Emellie and flee(t)ing appearance by Karla, all
via videolink from Denmark.
For the second year in a row, there was an added bonus of some veal haggis on the menu.
After some lovely hors d'oeuvres and catch-up chittety chattety, the Burns worshippers gathered around the table
before Steve piped/chanted and Martin marched in the haggis and admirably addressed it and gashed it
using his new Christmas gift:
a knife which has a handle made from salvaged wood from a sunken wreck in the Firth of Forth.
On to the eating. What a wonderful meal.
The haggis was excellent, the tatties smooth and creamy and the neeps, neeptastic (with some carrot thrown in).
There was ice cream to enjoy along with the beautifully homemade lemon cheesecake, courtesy of Chef Mary.
With fully satisfied bellies, everyone moved from the table to the lounge / smoking-room because
it was time to move on to the entertainment which included song-sheets, melodica,
recorder, chanter, vocal chords, guitars
and ancient Danish. There were Burns and other related
forms of entertainment from most of the party in the room and in Denmark, including poetry, song and story.
These all eventually led to Auld Lang Syne and then on to lashings of Glenlivet, kindly provided by
Phil and Steve.
