There was no lengthy rest though as an itinerary had been drawn up by Dez and so demanded respect. First up was a Friday kick-off check-in at Martin and Colin's hotel before Helene, Dez, Karla, Emmelie, Anne, Colin, Martin and Steve jumped a train to Ry. Fortunately, the weather was dry, if not clement, and the forest and waters around the town of Ry provided an ideal backdrop for Knights to walk, talk and generally catch up on news as well as share in the usual hi-jink-tive chat. A well-deserved tipple in the Ry Gastro Pub preceded an equally deserved pizza and chips tea at Angelo's. The Cape crew then headed back to the train station at Aarhus where Dez, Colin, Martin and Steve headed for the Central Bar and an evening in the company of another of the Danish Knights, Niklas. Plenty fitbaw beer (Ceres Top) was enjoyed as was a change of scenery (and bar prices (not so enjoyed)) with a short walk to the Sherlock Holmes Pub. It was great to catch up with Niklas and, for example, struggle over which selection of draught brews used to adorn the bar at the Crammond Inn (it was, of course, Samual Smith). Edinburgh-based Knights were a bit weighed down from the previous evening's travelling and conviviality so called it a night around midnight while Niklas ventured on to a few old haunts and found some former drinking buddies in good old bodegas.

Saturday was a bit wetter than Friday which helped everyone agree a trip to Dam Gamle By, where there would be cover from any rain, was a better option than a bus ride to Moesgaard Museum followed by a walk along the beach to town. This was definitely a wise choice and everyone enjoyed a casual wander around the reconstructed old town as opposed to a forced-march along a beach, especially following the previous day's ~20 000 steps efforts in Ry. A bonus in Dem Gamle By was the jazz bar had a man behind the bar and it was serving Aarhus setts! Emmelie put in a good shift showing off her singing talents in the recording room and Colin did his impression of Grauballe Man (or was that Gouty Stilt Man)? Flammen's meat buffet had been booked in advance for 17:30 and easily recieved thumbs up from everyone before assembled Knights headed off to Bodegaen and an interesting encounter with one of the locals who was a bit of a 'lost sheep'. By the time Knights left, the pub had gone from empty to full and was overflowing with a lot of the 'Aarhus young team'. Colin was particularly impressed at obviously being the oldest person in the pub by the end of the night.

Easter Sunday was a real treat as Derran and Helene pulled out all the stops with a delightful table full of traditional Danish treats and a lovely leg of lamb (which Martin particularly enjoyed; twice). An added bonus was Niklas, 'his' Helene and young Kian joined the party. Knights and Ladies also took a walk over to Sir Glenkinchie's abode and spent a little time in his company which was the real cherry and icing on the tasty ice-cream cake. Sir Glenkinchie was grateful for the visit and the gift of a couple of books from the society: Spirit of Place: Scotland's Great Whisky Distilleries by Charles MacLean and Scotland The Wild Places by Colin Prior.

Unfortunately, all extraordinarily good times must sojourn to some normal life and, all too soon, it was time for the Edinburgh-based contingent to head home. Dez gave Steve, Anne, Colin and Martin a lift to Aarhus bus station from where they took the bus to Billund airport and very late flight back to Auld Reikie.
