- The doors of the bonnie haugh (level ground by a river) ("My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream") swing open to celebrate the birthday of The Bard. Expect all things Scottish; and remember, if it's not Scottish, it's crap.

A now relatively hardcore crew joined Martin and Mary in their home for the 2026 Cape Burns Supper.
Unfortunately, a family bereavement left Phil feeling he would be more comfortable staying at home.
His entertainment was sadly missed but the thoughts and condolences of the gathered company were with him.
When the full company was gathered, everyone took their seat at the table and Steve throttled the goose
whilst 'piping' the piping-hot haggis to the table. Martin gave it suitable address and later added some AI spice
(or at least an AI generated poem with a style crossing Burns with Trainspotting!).
A new addition to this year's table was 'Asian' haggis, so named due to the mixture of spices through it
which, somewhat predictably, gave it a curry-like taste and would've been well suited to haggis pakora:
a staple of many of Scotland's Indian restaurants. It was wolfed down along with the more traditional
haggis, as was the creamy mash and neeps beautifully mixed-up by Mary; and the whisky sauce.
Steve gave haggis-munchers the opportunity of dashes of malt whisky on their haggis, straight from the Sir North Leith hip flask.
The main haggis event was followed by some Lemon tarte and ice-cream.
On to the evening's entertainment...
Some well sung Scottish songs were followed by some party-pieces and then another new addition to the eveining's menu: Scottish-themed charades. These were all acted out and guessed with great gusto. Before anyone knew it, it was nearing 1 a.m. and the bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label, kindly brought along by Colin, was calling time for the party people.Mobile-friendly picture gallery.
